Educated Office Manager on a mission to make my superiors look like super stars with a relentlessly helpful approach to everything I do. Continue your journey throughout my web-site to find out more or just reach out to me personally, I love meeting new people.
Hi there! Welcome to my “about” page. Here you will learn about my education and relevant work experience.
If you are on my web-site then you have probably already received my resume, and you have realized some positions of employment do not necessarily reflect the education I attained. Sometimes in life we find ourselves going down paths that are not where we thought we would be but are where we need to be at that time. Without dwelling on this too much I want to pursue what I enjoy, Business, Communication, Office Management and Human Resources.
My education is in Marketing and Contemporary Studies, from Mohawk College and Sir Wilfred Laurier University respectively. Contemporary Studies you might ask? Well, it’s a liberal arts degree that has it’s discipline in critical thinking, writing and creativity. These disciplines were honed in lectures around media studies, science and religion, a critical study of Aristoteles “on poetics” (the recipe of all tragedies old and new) and statistics. I offset this liberal arts degree with minors in more practical lessons of Organizational leadership and Criminology.
Firstly, my most relevant employment experience would be at Scotia Bank as a Manager. I supported the Executive office of the English Caribbean region that consisted of nineteen countries. In this position I directly supported the Assistant General Manager with the day to day operations of the regional head office in Toronto. Together we supported the Executive Vice President of the English Caribbean region. Daily tasks included jobs as simple as taking meeting minutes to the more complicated projects like: creating and executing the year end / year kickoff sales and management meetings on site in the Caribbean. The in-between I found myself assisting with quarterly conference call meetings and the yearly strategic planning process, all of which included tremendous information gathering and collaboration with many departments.
My next most relevant experience would be the position of Manager at Pinnacle Search Group. In this position I performed a full cycle recruiting service for our clients, this included: Recruiting through a variety of channels such as, social media, job postings and cold calling. Interviewing and screening both potential candidates and their references. Created reports of the short list candidates which was presented to our clients for their final approval. During my time at Pinnacle I also worked on a special project. The organization was creating an online Video Resume creation app called Video Career Finder. The web-site was designed to create a traditional written resume with an imbedded Video introduction of the candidate. For this project I created a direct marketing strategy which also included a database of every College and University career centre contact names and phone numbers in North America. Part of our local sales and awareness building strategy I participated in direct sales in our booth set up at numerous job fair events.
